Duration 12 days & 11 nights
Day 1:
Marhaba casablanca or Rabat
Arrival at destination. We take you from the airport to your Riad. Overnight, breakfast included.
Day 2:
Rabat - Chefchaouen
In the morning half day visit of the city with a guide: the Hassan Tower, the landmark of Rabat, as well as the king’s palace and the mausoleum of Mohammed V. Further highlights are the Meridian Tombs, known as the Chellah, next to the residence of Moulay Ismail. We continue to Chefchaouen, where you spend the night in your Riad in the medina, breakfast included.
Day 3:
Chefchaouen - Meknes - Fes
Today we first make a stop at Volubilis, ruins of an ancient Roman city, and then continue to Meknes. The medina of Meknes is famous for its gate of Morocco Bab-el-Mansur and the palace Dar Jamai. This is located on the El-Hedim Square, which is a popular meeting place for locals and tourists. There, in the evening, when the jugglers and musicians mingle with the people, we let the day fade away. We end the trip today in Fes, where you will spend the night.
Day 4:
Fes – the spiritual center of Morocco
The day will be dedicated to discover the city of Fes, the oldest of the imperial cities, founded by Idriss II, and nowadays the center of irradiation of Arab-Muslim culture. We visit the Andalusian Mosque, tanneries, potteries and of course the medina. After lunch we visit the Hispanic-Arab buildings and the Medersas. We then bring you to your hotel.
Day 5 :
Ifrane – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Dunes of Merzouga – camel trek - desert camp
After breakfast we leave Fes and will cross the Middle Atlas. We stop in Ifrane at the monkey forest and enjoy the Moroccan Switzerland area before continuing to Erfoud along the Ziz Valley by a series of fortified villages. The architecture announces the pre- Saharan oasis. In the late afternoon, arrival in the dunes of Merzouga. Stay on half board basis
Day 6 :
Around the dunes of Merzouga
Enjoy your breakfast before discovering the nomadic life of the desert. We make a small tour to Khamlia, a Gnaoua village and continue off-road to an oasis where you will meet nomads in the stone desert. In the late afternoon it is time for a camel trekking! You will make a trip together with a camel driver into the heart of the desert for about 1 hour, at sunset – an unforgettable adventure! They bring you to a desert camp with traditional nomad tents where you can relax, have dinner, listen to traditional music around the camp fire, or wander into the sands and marvel at the shinning stars…
Day 7 :
Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges
In the early morning we wake up to climb up to the top of the dune to enjoy the magnificient sunrise. After taking a breakfast in the camp we leave the desert and pass through the palm tree area to the High Atlas area, stopping at Erfoud to visit its renowned Fossil Museum, featured in David Attenborough’s recent BBC TV series about the origin of life on earth. We head towards the Todra Gorges, where we stroll through the famous gorge with its stunning cliffs. Later we drive to the nearby Dades Valley, where you spend the night on half board basis.
Day 8 :
Dades Gorges trekking
We drive down to the village Ait Arbi, where we meet our guide. There we will start our trekking near Dades. For lunch you will enjoy a barbecue in the fields. Overnight on half board basis
Day 9 :
Valley of the Roses – Ait Benhaddou
On our way to Ait benhaddou we go 12 km off-road, visiting the nomadic live in the caves. We take a short break for a cup of tea and we drive down to the Valley of the Roses. Arrival at Skour to visit the kasbah Amridil. Kasbah Amridil is a castle or a fortress of the 17th century. The picture of the kasbah is printed on the banknotes of 50 dirhams. and is also well-known as it was used as the setting for the famous movies " Ali Baba and the 40 thieves " & " Lawrence of Arabia ". You can also visit the African "Hollywood" studios of Ouarzazate. Overnight in your hotel in Ait benhaddou, half board included.
Day 10 :
Ait Benhaddou - Marrakech
Today you will visit the kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a former Glaoui Kasbah along the caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. We enter the fortified old town and enjoy the view over the river up the mountains of the High Atlas. Later we climb up the mountain range, crossing the pass Tich ‘n Tizka with an altitude of 2.260m. Along the way we will stop several times to take pictures and enjoy the beauties of the High Atlas. In the late afternoon we reach Marrakech.
Day 11 :
The oriental city of Marrakech
In the vibrant, oriental city of Marrakech, we spend our last day. The city guide will show you the most interesting places of Marrakech: sightseeing of the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian Tombs and the palaces Dar Sidi Said and Palais Bahia, as well as the Mellah and the soukhs. Arrangement of the half-day tour as desired with your city guide. Highlight is undoubtedly the Medina with its colourful daily life and the market place “Djemaa el Fna”. In the afternoon you have some free time. Overnight in Marrakech.
Day 12 :
Marrakech - airport
Time to say goodbye and fly back home again or you can extend your stay with extra nights in Marrakech.
